Meet the Team
While many orthopaedic offices employ nurse practitioners or physician assistants to see their patients, Dr. Talkington personally sees and treats each and every patient. Our practice believes that the successful treatment of a patient is based on the foundation of strong communication and patient education. If you need to visit us, we will go above and beyond to make your visit smooth and pleasant. We invite you to learn more about our team.
James M. Talkington, MD
Dr. Talkington founded Florida Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, P.A. in 1989, just a few years after completing his medical training. Dr. Talkington graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1980, graduating with honors (magna cum laude), second in his class.
After completing a four-year residency in orthopedic surgery at University Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida in 1984, Dr. Talkington pursued a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Chicago. When he opened his practice in Panama City, he was the first sports medicine doctor in Bay County.

Ann Talkington, RPT
“Since graduation I understand that each of us has been blessed with our bodies and when injury occurs it can be devastating both physically and emotionally. I share the same passion as Dr. Talkington, helping patients return to work and play as soon as possible. With my gift of this education I want to honor the Lord.”
Ann is a registered physical therapist (RPT). She graduated from the University of Florida College of Health Related Professions. Ann works in the office and assists patients in physical therapy education regarding exercises and protocols. She is also a certified X-ray technician.
